The volunteer parent organization for the Phoenix Polar Bears, Arizona Hockey Union and the Arizona Heat is proud to announce their investment and commitment to their players. As in years past, the scholarship program has been a successful mechanism by which families committed to the program have had the opportunity to play without having financial burden. The economics of this season have been especially difficult, with the current downturn coupled with people's ability to play the sport they and their kids love. The AHC is proud to announce that this season, $30,000 has been awarded directly back to association families as scholarship assistance. These monies were raised through volunteer efforts making local tournaments successful, and the association's yearly golf tournament.
The AHC is committed to being fiscally responsible, which will allow us to continue providing youth hockey scholarships and sustain long term growth for the development of our programs. Accordingly, we are now offering additional financial benefit to our teams playing in our 9th Annual Polar Bears Presidents' Day Invitational. One-half of the published entry fee will be paid by the AHC. Furthermore, teams will have the ability to have the remaining fee compensated by AHC - in exchange for at least ten (10) hours of volunteer service during the three day long tournament. This amounts to $15,000 in additional benefits to our families.
