AHU Spring Training

Arizona Hockey Union is excited to announce its Spring Development Clinics.  This programming will be supervised by the AHU's Coach-In-Chief, Kurt Goar.  (goalie coaches will also be available at sessions other than the hitting the right way sessions.

Sessions will be offered between April 10, 2014 and May 11, 2014.

 

Except for:

Sunday April 20th - Easter

 

Sessions are planned for Thursday & Sunday at AZ Ice Gilbert. 

 

Thursday:  Full Ice Scrimmage/Shoot to Score/Stick Handling (2006-2002)

Thursday:  Full Ice Scrimmage/Shoot to Score/Stick Handling (2001-up)

Sunday:  3x3 Cross ice/Power Skating & Overspeed (2006-2002)

Sunday:  Power Skating/Hitting the Right Way/Overspeed/3x3 Cross Ice (2001-up)

 

Hitting the Right Way  - will be offered to Bantam and Midget levels.  Stagnant checking (standing in front of net), offensively (pick/roll and/or screen) defensive (body checking) and cycling. Neutral zone mid ice contact.  Body Hip sweep poke to name a few.   

Shoot to Score / stick handling  – We are fortunate to have Kent Schmidke to run these sessions who lead the Turcotte stick handling school for many years.  He will focus on puck handling skills and shooters will be trained to optimize goal scoring opportunities to their position.  

Power Skating & Overspeed - Power skating is technical edgework on skates.  Overspeed, the game is played with a puck and is designed to push you to your stong side, weakside, fore-hand, back hand, front and backward skate to push a player to a level they have not been to before.  

Scrimmage - Full ice team controlled scrimmages without officials .  Will include Special teams skills such as Penalty Kill and Power Play, etc.

3 x 3 -  Cross ice small area team game.

 

Registration to purchase a punch card is now open, click registration link below.  Pricing for flexible punch cards with SIX (6) sessions will be $120, and $25 for the drop-in rate.  Goalies fees are the same for skaters.  Payments for drop-ins will be accepted at the door by cash/check/credit card.  These sessions are open to anyone in the Valley.  Check the calendar for session times/age divisions.
